Simple, straightforward tutoring.
One-on-one tutoring is $60 per 50-minute session, whether your child works with us in person in Bakersfield or online. Reading assessments are always free.
What every session includes
Your child works one-on-one with the same tutor each session, in person in Bakersfield or online from home. Lessons are hands-on and interactive. Online, students move letter tiles, write on a shared whiteboard and play skill games with their tutor in real time, so the session feels like sitting at the table together.
For reading and spelling, we use our structured, multisensory program, which builds skills step by step at a pace that fits your child. Writing and math sessions are individualized to your child's grade level and goals, with the same one-on-one attention.
New reading students start with a free reading assessment
Before reading tutoring begins, we meet with your child for a free reading assessment. It is relaxed and low-pressure, and it helps us understand your child's current skills, determine the right starting point within our program, and recommend the best next steps. Afterward, we walk you through what we saw and suggest a schedule. Assessments take about 20 minutes and can be done online or in person. Students joining us for writing or math support do not need an assessment to get started.
Payment and Scheduling
Tutoring is $60 per 50-minute session. We invoice at the end of each month for the following month's scheduled sessions, and payments can be made by card or bank transfer through our secure online payment links.
There are no enrollment fees or long-term contracts. We do ask families to reserve a consistent weekly schedule and commit to at least one month of tutoring at a time. Consistent instruction and regular practice are important parts of helping students build skills and make meaningful progress.
Questions parents ask
Is the reading assessment really free?
Yes. There is no charge and no obligation to continue. The assessment helps us determine the right starting point in our program.
How many sessions a week do you recommend?
Most students meet twice a week because consistent practice is an important part of building reading skills. We'll recommend a schedule based on your child's needs.
Can we do sessions online?
Yes. Online sessions are fully hands-on. Your child moves tiles, writes on a shared whiteboard and plays games with the tutor in real time. Families outside Bakersfield work with us entirely online.
How long will it take?
Every child is different, and we will not promise a timeline. What we can promise is a structured approach, a tutor who knows your child, and honest updates about what we see along the way.
What if we need to cancel a session?
Please give us 24 hours' notice so we can offer the time to another family. Sessions cancelled with less notice are billed at the regular rate.
